One of my favorite types of weddings to photograph are traditional church and cathedral weddings. Having been raised Catholic, I’m very familiar with all of the parts of the mass and am able to not only anticipate what parts of the ceremony happen at what times, but also understand how to properly conduct myself in a space of worship. So, I was pretty excited that Alexandra and Jordan chose me as their wedding photographer!

Both Alexandra and Jordan got ready for their big day at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids. My second photographer and I were able to document the final stages of getting dressed there, and then the last minute preparations at St. Adalbert’s. Jordan and Alexandra chose to not see each other until Alexandra walked down the aisle, which always makes for a super emotional and touching moment at the beginning of the ceremony. After the mass, the bride and groom departed the church to cheers from their family and friends. We were then able to take photos of the two of them, as well as their wedding party, all over downtown.

Their reception at Noto’s was beautiful. We were even able to pop upstairs to do some photos in some of the ornate rooms up there, as well as on their grand staircase. Their reception was a high energy dancing party and I had a blast taking photos of everyone on the dance floor. I’m so thankful to have been able to document their wedding day!
