I've been photographing weddings since 2012 as both a lead photographer and a second shooter.  I enjoy second shooting, dare I say it, maybe even a bit MORE than main shooting weddings (less pressure, more creativity!).  I've worked with quite a few different photographers over the past several years and understand that everyone has their own unique shooting style and flow of the day.   I'm ready to do whatever it is that you need me to take care of to make your day go a little smoother and get the type of photos that you need to fill out the set from the day.

My current gear list is growing, and it includes:
Canon 5D Mark III (Full frame)
Canon 70-200 2.8 V2
Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art

Sigma 85mm 1.4 (Pre art series but was told they built them with the same specs as the art series… takes amazing photos)
Tamron 90mm 2.8 Macro
Canon 50mm 1.4 (share this one with my husband, so if you require it, please inform me. I don’t normally use it much)
Canon 16-35mm 4.0 (also share this lens with my husband, so please ask to ensure that I have it, if you require it)
Yongnuo Speedlights & transceivers/receivers (3 of each) & stands for off-camera use
Ice Light & barn doors
Square cheapie video light (Thats right, I don’t know what brand it is haha)

I am planning on purchasing another 5D Mark III for the 2019 wedding season, as I sold my prior second body, the Canon 6D (great little body, just hated that there were only 9 focus points!). As I obtain more equipment, I will update this list.

I do also have a pretty extensive collection of Profoto lights, which I do not bring to second shooting gigs, unless you specifically request them and want me to use them for portraits or something and you have an assistant to help with them. I do not bring these for any second shooting gig that pays less than $350.

These include:
Profoto B1X (2 of these) (Great for bright sunny days to balance subjects. These are really heavy lights so require an assistant to help carry them and move them while shooting)
Profoto A1 (2 of these) (I use these mainly just on camera, or they work well when the sun isn’t too harsh or in the evening to help spotlight the subjects)
Profoto B2 (This one is connected to an external battery, so needs an assistant to hang onto all of that)
Various modifiers and softboxes

I live in Muskegon but I legit actually like driving and don’t have any issues with travel. I have second shot weddings in Muskegon, Grand Haven, Holland, South Haven, St. Joseph, South Bend, Kalamazoo, Benton Harbor, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Cadillac, Ludington, Traverse City, Charlevoix, Ann Arbor, and Detroit. Just tell me when and where you need me!

My pay rate is $400 for up to 10 hours, $350 for up to 8 hours, or $300 for up to 6 hours, unless I’ve responded to your offer of another amount. I occasionally ask for a little extra for travel, depending on how far I have to go for the wedding, and how busy I am. November-April, I can sometimes do cheaper gigs that are closer to Muskegon. If you are reading this because I responded to your second shooter request on Facebook, and you stated a specific amount that you are paying, I will accept that, or I wouldn’t have left my info ;).

If you think that my work is similar to your style, I'm open to doing trades as well, as my packages often include a second shooter.

Don't worry too much about my editing style, since that's going to be your gig ;). Oh yah, that should be a given, but I’ve been asked to edit too, and that is a giant NO from me, unless you are offering to pay me really well for that (and wouldn’t you want your own style anyway?). I’ll be honest, I’ve second shot a LOT of weddings, and didn’t even realize that was a “thing” until someone asked me to do it. I have enough of my own editing to do! haha! Also, if you’re concerned about what my personality is like, here’s a few things you should know. I am pretty chill and kind of introverted, although I enjoy chatting on a one on one basis. I tend to be quieter around your clients, simply because its not my wedding, not my clients. I try not to draw attention to myself. If you use profanity, you won’t shock me, and I’ll use “sentence enhancers” as well ;) . I’m following your lead though, with clients, and typically refraining from it, unless you have some sweary sailors for clients. I’m not religious, although I was raised Catholic, so the respect is still there when it comes to being in a church and documenting religious ceremonies. I’m in my late 30s, but I’ve had a lot of people tell me they think I’m a lot younger and I shoot for people who are a lot younger than me all the time. Its no big deal. No power trips here. I like working with both men and women, so long as you’re nice! Basically if you’re not a dick, I’m not a dick. Actually if you are a dick, I probably still won’t be a dick, because I’m a people pleaser. When I am second shooting I come at weddings from the mindset that I’m working for you, not me, and I’m there to get you the kinds of photos that you want from me. That means communication is everything. if you prefer a certain way of doing something, tell me. if you don’t care and just want me to do my thing and make pretty photos, tell me. I’ve shot for a few people before that don’t really give any direction and just expect me to know what they want, but literally everyone does things different. So please remember this and give me an idea of what you need to complete your gallery. Even if you just want a buddy for the day and someone to talk to (yes I have encountered this!) tell me. I want to make sure I’m doing a great job for you!

I promise I’m only wordy in text and quieter in person.

SECOND SHOOTER PORTFOLIO

Below are just a handful of the images I have taken for other photographers as a second shooter.  From zoomed in "paparazzi" type shots, to expansive views from the back, I'm ready to get you the type of images that round out the wedding day coverage and give couples the range of images that would not be possible with just one photographer.

Off camera flash makes reception candids better! This is actually from one of my weddings, but I do this all the time for other photographers.

I can hang in the back while you get into position for the bridal party entrance. This was a shared moment between the bride and groom prior to them being announced by the DJ. Taken for Jennifer Mayo Studios.

I do have a macro. So if you need me to play with the rings and jewelry, I’m game. Taken for Justin Hankins Photography.

Seriously my husband is super into architectural photography and is obsessed with old buildings. Maybe some of that rubbed off on me? Maybe some photographers just want to send me outside to freeze my ass off to make sure they get the venue shots? haha… just kidding. Taken for Jennifer Mayo at Notre Dame.

Don’t ever call the 70-200 a boring lens. Compressing all the reception tables together just makes it look more filled and decorated <3 . This is natural light only, if you’re not interested in off camera flash for details. Taken for Justin Hankins Photography.

Since I get sent to take photos of the guys all the time, I make it my personal mission to try to get some cool shots of them after they’ve put everything on. I’m kind of obsessed with the dramatic light and the expression with this one! Taken for Justin Hankins Photography.

Same photo, different edit styles. Doesn’t matter if you like bright and airy or dark and moody, I’ll take photos and you do your thing with them :) .

I like ALWAYS get sent off to get photos of the guys. Since they only take like 10-15 minutes to get ready, I sometimes just kill some time getting some fun group shots. This one was just taken in a driveway for Rachel Kaye Photography.

If you let me, and you hold the light, I’ll get a couple dramatic shots for you. Only thing is you’ll have to photoshop yourself out of the photo, since you’ll be in it, holding a light. ;) Taken for Cellardoor Weddings, because she was sweet enough to let me have a shot at this one.

I WANT TO GET ALL OF THE PROUD AND CRYING MOMS (AND DADS AND GRANDMA AND GRANDPAS). Its my mission. Also, this venue had black walls and large windows. LOOOOOVVVVEEEEEE. Taken for Justin Hankins Photography.

Don’t mind me, standing in the doorway, being a creeper. This photo is actually a few years old, taken for Lauren Nicole Photography.
